Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Live Free From Nicotine Addiction
Is laser therapy safe?
Laser therapy is non-invasive and drug-free. It has been widely used internationally for over 30 years. The laser used by Freedom Laser Therapy Clinics is a low-level or “soft” laser, no more powerful than a light bulb.
What parts of the body receive laser?
A low-level laser is applied to specific energy points on the hands, faces, head, and ears, which are associated with nicotine addiction.
Is laser therapy covered by medical insurance?
Laser Therapy for smoking cessation is not eligible for health insurance coverage at this time. The cost of Freedom Laser Therapy’s program is $299-$349 (varies per State). A pack a day smoker spends approximately $1,500 annually, which is less than 1/3 of a person’s typical annual cigarette expenditure.
How many laser sessions are needed?
Laser therapy at Freedom involves one session. Low level laser is currently being studied in the U.S. to see if it increases the body’s production of endorphins, thereby reducing or eliminating the physical withdrawal symptoms and cravings normally associated with quitting smoking, especially during the first few weeks. Generally the first 72 hours are the most difficult time for a person to quit smoking.
Are there any health or medical conditions that would prevent me from participating in the laser therapy clinical research trial?
If you have cancer or epilepsy, are pregnant, use a pacemaker or are taking photosensitive medication, laser therapy should not be used for smoking cessation. Not treating these particular clients is a precautionary measure. Freedom Laser Therapy does not diagnose or treat illness or prescribe medication. Laser therapy is not intended to replace medical care. We recommend that you consult your physician for a professional diagnosis of your health.
Is it guaranteed?
Low-level laser therapy is being studied to see if it helps the client cope with physical urges and cravings. The low-level laser does not take away your psychological addiction to nicotine. Each client has a unique level to his/her addiction, so laser therapy cannot be guaranteed. Freedom will works closely with each client to support them in achieving their goals.
How does laser therapy help to diminish weight gain?
When a smoker gives up nicotine their metabolism will start to slow down, as their body withdraws from nicotine. One of the aspects of laser being studied in this trial is to determine if laser counteracts weight gain: our laser therapists apply the laser to energy points to improve your metabolism and help suppress appetite. Application of laser to these acupuncture points may help the body adjust to this new lifestyle change of becoming a nonsmoker. In addition, your therapist will recommend some healthy eating habits to support you in achieving your goals.

The cost of our clinical research trial is $299-$349 (varies per state) and includes education about nicotine addiction, a thirty day supply of six antioxidants, and our Freedom quit support kit. The cost of a booster session is $30, if needed.
